CSC Steil Dermatology

Early in her training, Dr. Christina Steil was drawn to basic science research and initially thought she would pursue a PhD and work primarily in a lab. As she moved through medical school and residency, she realized she would miss working directly with people if she continue with a career dedicated solely to research. She came to value the human connection—building long-term relationships and caring for patients over time.

She chose dermatology because it provides a unique window into overall health. She enjoyed seeing how her mentors used the skin exam to help identify complex diagnoses, and she also loved that many dermatologic treatments can produce visible results quickly. That combination of diagnostic problem-solving, procedures, and meaningful patient relationships is what drew her to the specialty.

In her practice, she focuses on prevention and education. She wants patients to understand why a treatment is recommended, how it works, and what they can do at home to protect and maintain their skin. Her goal is to practice proactive medicine, not reactive medicine, so she can prevent problems when possible and support long-term skin health. In addition to using devices and traditional medicine to help patients reach their goals, she is enrolled in a year-long course in integrative dermatology, which studies complementary and alternative approaches to support skin health with science-backed, holistic care.

Since starting her dermatology practice, she’s incorporated device-based treatments and new technologies to address sun damage and improve overall skin health, not just appearance.

New research suggests that some of the treatments offered at CSC Steil Dermatology may do more than improve texture and tone, they may also help lower the risk of certain skin cancers.

These devices don’t just make skin look healthier, they can support healthier skin function. Many treatments encourage the skin to act more like younger skin, improve communication between cells, and strengthen the skin’s local immune response. Together, these effects may help the skin repair damage more effectively and reduce future risk.

Over the years, she has seen these benefits in her patients, which is why she has long offered these treatments as a proactive option—for example, to rejuvenate sun-damaged skin and support healthier skin function.
